fairly widespread show showers will continue to move across the
north carolina mountains from the southwest through the evening
hours. the snow showers will be heavy at times...especially in
locations near the tennessee border...and from robbinsville to
franklin. snowfall accumulations of one to two inches are likely
at the higher elevations this evening. mountain locations farther
to the east should see a dusting to less than one inch this
evening.

Accumulating snowfall to continue tonight over the southern
appalachians...

.numerous snow showers will continue tonight over the mountains of
the western carolinas and extreme northeast georgia. an upper low
will enhance the snow shower activity during the late afternoon
and evening hours...likely resulting in significant snow
accumulations above 3000 feet. the snow showers will taper off
late tonight as the atmosphere becomes more stable.

the winter weather advisory is now in effect until 6 am est
tuesday.

scattered to numerous snow showers will continue tonight over the
southern and eastern slopes of the appalachian mountains.
elevations below 2500 feet will see a mix of rain and snow showers
through sunset...with all snow expected thereafter. by the time
snow tapers taper off tuesday morning...total accumulations of 1
to 3 inches are expected across the advisory area.

a winter weather advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities...and use caution while
driving.
